The full course. CPR and AED for adults, children, and infants, plus the first aid you actually use.

This is the class most people need and the one we teach the most. You'll finish about an hour and a half of online coursework on your own, then spend two hours and fifteen minutes in person on the floor with a manikin. We stop when someone's compressions are shallow and we fix it right there.

You finish about an hour of online coursework first, then spend an hour and forty-five minutes in person practicing compressions, AED use, and choking response. Popular with camps certifying a shift of counselors before the season starts, and with anyone whose card lapsed last month.

If you guard a pool in New York State, this is the card you need — and the state requires you to renew it every year, not every two. The full course is five hours in person; recertification is two hours and forty-five minutes. We run recerts on short notice before summer hiring.

Basic Life Support (BLS) — Red Cross

Nurses, medical and dental office staff, EMS and nursing students, clinical program applicants

The provider-level course for healthcare and professional responders. Online portion at home, then a hands-on session with us.

This is the Red Cross blended-learning BLS course. You finish the online portion on your own — about an hour and forty-five minutes of video, scenarios, and a knowledge check — and then come to a roughly two-and-a-half-hour in-person skills session where you run compressions, ventilations, and full team scenarios with an instructor watching. Many healthcare employers and clinical programs specifically ask for a BLS Provider card; this is that card, from the American Red Cross.

Middle and high school students starting to sit for neighbors

Pediatric first aid, CPR, and the judgment calls a new sitter actually faces.

Half of this class is skills and half is confidence. We run scenarios — the toddler who won't stop crying, the scraped knee, the parent who's an hour late — because that's what the first few jobs are really like.
